How many Group Posts Are there in Railway Recruitment?
Group A :
One can apply for Group A posts if one has completed Post Graduation in Engineering, Medical Science or any related stream. For SCRA, the main eligibility criteria is HSC with PCM. To apply for Group A posts, one must first fit the age requirement criteria.
Group B :
One cannot apply for Group B posts; There is no examination for Group B because Group B officers are directly promoted from Group C by the Railway Board. When an employee is serving in Group C for a certain period of time, then he/she is promoted to Group B.
Group C :
For Group C, the qualification is 10th for ALP or Technician; If the person has completed 12th standard, he/she can apply for ticket collector and if completed graduation, he/she can be posted as assistant station master. Eligibility age is 30-33 years depending on the social status of the person.
Group D :

What is Selection Process of Railway Jobs?
Phase 1:
is a computer based entrance test. The exam will be of 2 hours duration. There are a total of 100 questions divided into 30 Maths questions, 30 Reasoning questions and 40 General Awareness questions.
Phase 2:
is again a computer based entrance test with same duration of 2 hours but different questions. There are a total of 120 questions divided into 35 questions from Maths, 35 from Reasoning and 50 from General Awareness.
Phase 3:
is typing skill test for Junior Accounts Assistant, Accounts Clerk and Senior Clerk post. Here, the qualification to pass the exam is typing 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi. Typing skill marks are not considered for merit.
Phase 4:
is the final stage of document verification and medical examination. Based on the aggregate marks of computer based test, eligible candidates will be further called for medical examination and document verification
